In the early 1960’s four small beach towns known as – Cherry Grove, Windy Hill, Crescent Beach, and Ocean Drive Beach – combined to form the City of North Myrtle Beach. The goal in mind was for these towns was to provide unmatched services, top-notch recreational activities, and create a unique, community enviroment that its residents and visitors could enjoy every year. Home to more than 14,000 residents, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is proud to claim itself as the birthplace of shag and each year it hosts two week long Shag Festivals, one in April and the other in September. During these 2 weeks, Main Street is closed to traffic and turned into one of the largest dance floors in the world.
